General Donations
Most gifts to EFF are cash contributions, for which donors may receive tax benefits if they itemize deductions. Pledges to the foundation may be paid over a period up to five years.
Matching Gifts
Thousands of companies match donations that employees make to institutions like The Edison Ford Winter Estates Foundation. Donors are urged to request that their employers match their gift. We can offer a recognition letter or fill out your company’s forms.
Named Gifts
Make a gift in memory or in honor of someone close to EFF. Alternatively, you can associate your name with a major project or endowment opportunity. EFF will be pleased to provide information on such opportunities.
Sponsorships
EFF hosts a signature event in November of every year, the EFF Gala, which is held on the grounds of the Estates. In addition, smaller events are planned to also generate support. Sponsorship opportunities for special events will be published each year on the website. Or for more specific information, please contact us.
Items for donation
As part of our fundraising initiatives, we are always seeking creative items and packages for our auction lots and for resale. Items such as vacation stays in desirable locations to other such experiences, dinners, jewelry and more are always welcome at the auction table. Let us know if you have something that you think our supporters will bid on, and bid high. We appreciate all ways our donors help to support our mission.
Gifts of Securities
Many donors may realize substation tax advantages by transferring gifts of appreciate stock. Capital gains on the amount of appreciation are avoided, and the donor receives a tax deduction for the stocks’ full market value.
Endowments
In June of 2006, the board unanimously voted to focus its efforts to build an endowment, funds from which would ensure the future sustainability of the Estates, grounds and educational programs in perpetuity. Proceeds from the Foundation's galas and other special events will be used to continue the Foundation's work and grow the endowment for future restoration efforts. In the spirit of the city's lease agreement with the Estates, the Foundation looks forward to continuing to working with the Estates trustees and staff, the Charles Edison Fund, and others to benefit the Estates. It is the mark of a healthy, caring community when its citizens rally to restore a priceless American Treasure as was the case with southwest Florida. With our community's continued stewardship and support of the Foundation, the sustainability of the Estates for future generations will be assured.
